Slipstream TRIUMPH at one of the world’s largest beer awards!

The Slipstream Brewing team are beyond excited to share that we just won not one, but TWO trophies at the Australian International Beer Awards, one of the world’s oldest and largest competitions judging both draught and packaged beer.

Conducted by Melbourne Royal, the competition saw hundreds of esteemed beer judges assess more than 2,300 beers from 400 breweries across 22 countries, awarding gold, silver and bronze medals to the very best, and then trophies to the very best beers in each category.

In a massive achievement for our brewing team, led by Gavin Croft, our Gold Wild Ale scored the trophy for Champion Belgian / French Ale. While we’ve been dabbling with barrel aged beers for a long time, this is the first wild fermentation beer we’ve ever released, so to see it win the judge’s favour above so many other fine examples of the style is a real honour. It’s a beer that’s literally been years in the making, and we could not be prouder of this result. 

Added to this, we also took home the coveted Champion Small Australian Brewery, in recognition of the outstanding performance of all of our beers entered across the competition. In all, we earned 6 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals across our range (more below).

After our recent sweep of the Royal Queensland Beer Awards, where we took home FIVE trophies including Grand Champion Beer, Champion Small/Medium Brewery and Best Queensland Beer, we’re starting to think we’re going to have to invest in a bigger trophy cabinet!
